HILL AFTER THE STORM II

No hay mal que mil años dure ni tormenta que no se diluya para dejar un cielo renovado y la tierrra húmeda. Ese instante en el que acaba la lluvia está regado por catástrofes ínfimas como el foteo de una hoja que no puede absorber más agua, o riadas que arrasen los cursos de las viejas ramblas. La montaña se yergue imperturbable frente a ese panorama con la misma neutralidad moral con la que observamos un combate entre dos hormigas; resignada ante el paso del tiempo e indiferente a sus estragos. There is no evil that lasts a thousand years and no storm that does not dissolve to leave a renewed sky and wet soil. That instant in which the rain ends is watered by minor catastrophes such as the dripping of a leaf that can not absorb more water, or floods that sweep away the courses of the old wadis. The mountain stands imperturbable in front of this outlook with the same moral neutrality with which we observe a combat between two ants; resigned to the passing of time and indifferent to its ravages.
