Este óleo sobre tabla forma parte de una serie de obras de pequeño formato que reflejan las típicas puertas andaluzas, muestra de que la arquitectura ha buscado en cada lugar las soluciones para sus desafíos. En el Mediterráneo, estas entradas encaladas dan sombra y frescor; dan, ante todo, una tregua ante el sol soberano. Por azares de la vida, el encalado blanco, llevado del mortero a la pared, se ha convertido en la imagen reconocible de los pueblos de Andalucía; y su color, en el reflejo de Nerja.

This oil on panel is part of a series of small-format works that reflect the typical Andalusian doors, proof that architecture has sought solutions to its challenges in each place. In the Mediterranean, these whitewashed entrances provide shade and coolness; they give, above all, rest from the sovereign sun. By the vagaries of life, the whitewashed white, taken from the mortar to the wall, has become the recognizable image of the villages of Andalusia; and its color, the reflection of Nerja.
