DUSK OVER THE ROCK

La Torre del Zambullón, en Calahonda, nos recuerda que cada época, como cada persona, ve lo que quiere ver. En los peñones vemos una foto y un vértigo, pero el siglo XVI veían en ellos un catalejo y un escudo. El sitio idóneo para ir tejiendo una red de vigilancia y defensa contra la piratería de la que encontramos vestigios a cada pocos kilómetros. Hoy, no suena la alerta por los piratas, pero la Torre sigue ahí y nos recuerda que cada época tiene sus costumbres.

The Zambullón Tower, in Calahonda, reminds us that each era, like each person, sees what it wants to see. In the rocks we see a photo and vertigo, but in the sixteenth century they saw in it as a spyglass and a shield. The ideal place to go weaving a network of surveillance and defense against piracy of which we find traces every few kilometers. Today, the pirate alert no longer heard, but the Tower is still there and it reminds us that every era has its customs.
