MIMOSA STREET’S BELL FLOWERS

En esta tabla la artista nos hace reparar en los detalles que pasamos de largo habitualmente: algo tan sencillo como unas flores de campana, reflejo distorsionado de la Iglesia del Carmen, unas manzanas más allá. Desde la calle Mimosa, se escucha el repicar de las campanas de bronce, pero a la sombra de la iglesia poco podemos ver de las campanas rojas. Sin embargo, es imposible separar tajantemente a unas y a otras: las campanas bermellón proyectan sobre la pared su sombra nítida y salvaje, que sirve de contrapunto al repiqueteo difuso y metálico con el que las campanas de la iglesia marcan el ritmo de la vida de Calahonda generación tras generación.

In this painting the artist makes us notice the details that we usually overlook: something as simple as bell flowers, a distorted reflection of the Iglesia del Carmen, a few blocks away. From Mimosa Street, we hear the ringing of the bronze bells, but in the shadow of the church we can see little of the red bells. However, it is impossible to separate one from the other: the vermilion bells cast their sharp and wild shadow on the wall, which serves as a counterpoint to the diffuse and metallic ringing with which the church bells mark the rhythm of life in Calahonda generation after generation.
